A Little Explanation
Hello,
My name is Bree Ouellette and I’m studying Photography at Rhode Island School of Design. Read on to the next few paragraphs if you still curious:
“I think the best advice I can give you, is that often times the most exciting art happens outsides one’s comfort zone” This little sentence appeared at the end of my introductory to photography grade report my senior year in high school. And it became a broken record in my mind; as I wondered how I could erase the constant fear of well everything into works of art. So I took the same professor’s class the following year, but there was something fantastically unique about this course. In my photographic work I had this marvelous freedom to create just about everything in the picture. Almost like turning a painter’s idea into a physical environment.I love making the most preposterous ideas that almost make sense when someone sees it visually. There is also the love for finding ordinary materials found around the house and grocery stores and using them as props for a more romantic story like atmosphere.Creating theatrical productions and becoming a performer of sorts fascinates me. And I was always far too terrified of the stage no matter how hard I tried to convince myself I wasn’t. So this body of work became a silent performance where only the specific moment has been captured. The child like dreaming and curiosity has never left. So I fully intend to turn all these five-year-old curiosities into career hoping more curious souls will come join.
